This is the sought after and highly collectible first edition published by George Newnes in 1894, with illustrations by Sidney Paget. 

Condition report

Overall, this copy is in fairly good condition (6/10). The book has a slight forward lean. There's some light marking and scratching to the boards. There's rubbing and wear to the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine, as well as the edges and corners of the boards. The cloth covering the spine is faded and slightly discoloured. The spine mesh is visible from the pastedowns (the gutter is slightly worn). There's relatively light spotting throughout, however the pages are clean (devoid of marks) and the binding is relatively firm. There's a small black horizontal mark across the page edges (see images). The pastedowns are intact/in place.
