Condition report
Uniformly bound in full calf. All bindings remain firm and attractive, showing expected surface wear and rubbing to the boards. Volume I: Light chipping to the spine, pencil notation to the front free endpaper, ex-libris plate to the pastedown. The text is clean and tightly bound. Pages 555–557 have been neatly supplied in modern facsimile to complete the text (see images). Volume II: Cracking to the spine leather at head and tail, both lower corners of the boards crushed. Some scratching and light wear. Foxing and mild staining to the fly-title and title page, otherwise clean throughout. Volume III: Light edge wear and a small chip to the top of the spine. Clean pages with faint tanning. Binding tight and secure. Overall, a complete and presentable set with strong bindings and clean interiors. Minor flaws consistent with age.
