Description

This is a Carl Zeiss Jena brass compound microscope, serial number 86788, featuring a four-lens rotating turret, fine focus knobs and coarse dials to adjust the position of the draw tube.

The microscope is designed with a jug handle for ease of transport and can tilt backwards for flexible viewing angles. The stage includes a scale at the rear and offers smooth horizontal movement for precise sample positioning.

This set includes one Carl Baker objective lens and one eyepiece. The sub-stage mirror provides adequate illumination, and the slide holder offers smooth motion across the stage.

The microscope comes housed in its original wooden box with designated compartments for accessories and components.

Condition report

The brass body exhibits a natural patina with age-related wear. Fine focus knobs and coarse dials operate smoothly with expected age-related patina. One side of sub-stage mirror has some speckling/marking, visible in the provided images. The optics show some dust artefacts, and it is recommended to invest in additional eyepieces and objective lenses for optimal clarity. The microscope stand is stable and tilts backward within its full range of motion. The wooden box is in good condition with minor wear consistent with age. It also comes with a key.
