Published by Robert Hale Limited in 1946, You Met Such Nice Girls in the Wrens is a humorous and lively diary of Lola Brown, a member of the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS).
The author, “Tackline,” shifts from the conscientious reporting in his first book Holiday Sailor to light-hearted comedy, capturing the spirit of the WRNS, the loyal and efficient “kid-sister” of the Royal Navy.
Lola’s diary covers her time at naval stations, including a remote camp in Scotland and a Combined Operations base on the South Coast, all with a satirical note. The latter half of the book focuses on her experiences as part of a liberty-boat crew.
The dust cover shows some wear with a few marks and a couple of small tears on both the front and back, which are visible in the images. The boards are in very good condition with only minimal signs of wear. The pages are clean, and the binding is firm. Overall, the book is in good to very good condition.
