Condition Report

Overall, this set is in good condition. Each features raised bands with gilt lettering. There's some rubbing and age related wear to the boards of all volumes, particularly around the edges of the spine (see images). There's a partial crack to the cloth (top of the spine) of vol. 1 of the Autocrat. There's also a ~3cm crack to the top of the spine of vol. II and vol. I of the poet. The crack at the top of vol. I of the poet has left the top of the spine partially detached, however it doesn't affect the binding. There's a much smaller crack at the top of the spine of vol. II of the poet and this crack only affect the right side of the spine. All of the bindings are firm and the pages are generally very clean. There's spotting to the end pages and pastedowns and light tanning to the pages. There's a small pencil doodle to the title page of The Professor (vol. II).
