Description

Potterism: A Tragi-Farcical Tract, in this undated edition published by W. Collins Sons & Co., immerses readers in a satirical and thought-provoking exploration of society, ambition, and the perils of media influence. In a world where the Potter family's popular newspapers wield considerable power, Jane and Johnny Potter's experiences at Oxford shape their disdain for their father's publications. Despite their initial reluctance, they find themselves drawn into the family business.

Jane, harboring ambitions that transcend societal constraints, yearns for more than her predefined role. Meanwhile, Mrs. Potter, a renowned but delusional romantic novelist, grapples with blurred lines between fact and fiction, believing in her own influence. Her quest to uncover the truth about a family tragedy leads to catastrophic consequences.

Within the Potter family empire, Arthur Gideon stands as an editor with principles. He respects Mr. Potter's integrity but despises the sensationalist nature of the newspapers. His unwavering dedication to his ideals and his fearless resistance to anti-Semitic attacks make him an unwitting target of animosity.

This narrative, penned with biting satire and insight, unveils the intricate web of personal ambitions and societal pressures. "Potterism: A Tragi-Farcical Tract" is a timeless commentary on the manipulative power of media, the consequences of ambition, and the clash between authenticity and populism. This edition provides an opportunity to explore this gripping tale in its undated historical context, reminding us of the enduring relevance of these themes.

There's some marks, rubbing and general age related wear to the covers (see images), however the pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. There's pencil writing on the pastedown and title pages and the previous owner has underlined text on a few pages (again, in pencil).
