There's foxing to the page edges but only light spotting to the pages. Both bindings are firm and both copies are ex-library and ex-libris. Vol. 2: There's a stain across the fly leaf and frontispiece. There's some discolouration, markings and age related wear to the boards. There's fairly heavy discolouration to the bottom left of the front cover and bottom right of the back cover (see images). There's also a dark spot on the spine (see images). The spine mesh is partially visible from the middle of the book and there's a pencil mark in the margin of pp. 361. Vol. 1: There's a slight tear to the cloth at the top of the spine, as well as age related and marking to the boards. There's a library sticker on the front cover. There's an inscription on the ffep and the spine mesh is partially visible from the fly leaf (there's also a stain to the bottom left of the ffep). There's foxing to the page edges and light spotting to the pages. There's also some pencil marks in the margins of the pages and a tear to the top right corner of pp. 49.
